Or look to the right at the links -- two indie stations on the web. Pretty different. WOXY is a commercial station, and I think more upbeat. KEXP varies more by DJ, and based on when I listen (their morningtime in Seattle), it's more british sounds, post-punk kind of stuff.
I like this from the story on the LA station: "I’m not an idiot. That’s how Indie 103 has managed to cause such a buzz among a certain demographic in SoCal. In its embryonic, no-DJs-no-commercials incarnation (commercials just began airing this week), Indie 103 is the kind of station that appeals to a fairly broad range of people — not because they like all the music, but because they passionately adore some of it."
It's so true; if I think I'll be pleasantly surprised/bowled over by a Robyn Hitchcock song I haven't heard in ages, I'll listen.
